A nocturnal, dog-like carnivore, the jackal is widespread in east and southern Africa. The jackal is omnivorous, eating almost anything that is available including insects, lizards, rodents, plant materials and carrion.

Lions are opportunistic hunters and will kill and feed on just about any animal. They prey mostly on large mammals such as Wildebeest, Springbok, Impala and Zebra. They also prey on Buffalo and Hippo.
